Super Absorbent Dressing

The super absorbent dressing is an advanced wound dressing, the multilayers instruction made it ideal for the moderate to heavily exduate wounds. The contact layer transmits fluid upwards and does not adhere to the wound site; Distribution layer with rapid fluid uptake distributes evenly upwards into the absorbent layer; the central absorbent core contains SAP polymer, bring about outstanding absorption and retention; the fluid repellent backing layer minimises fluid strike – through and its vapour permeable qualities improve breathability and exudate manage property. Super absorbent dressing absorbs wound exudate through the wound contact layer, retains the exudate within the core and minimises the risk for maceration. The fluid-repellent nonwoven backing acts as a barrier and prevents exudate strike-through.

  • Q.
  • How frequently should Mepitel be changed?
  • A.
  • As a general rule, super absorbent dressing  can be left in place for several days (up to 14 days) depending on the wound condition.  super absorbent dressing  can be used on a variety of different types of wounds, each with its own specific wound care protocol and characteristics.  super absorbent dressing should be observed at the time of each cover dressing change to be sure the pores remain unclogged with thick exudate or other material. Although the general condition of the wound can be observed through the  super absorbent dressing in place the dressing should be changed when the clinician wishes to examine the wound bed closely.

  • Q.
  • Can two or more pieces of super absorbent dressing be overlapped for use on larger wounds?
  • A.
  • Super absorbent dressing remains in place best over wounds when one continuous piece is used and anchored on all four edges with at least 1 cm to intact skin surrounding the wound. It is recommended to use a size that accomplishes this goal whenever possible. When a wound is larger than can be accommodated by our largest size 20*40cm, you may use and overlap two or more pieces by up to 1 cm, but observe the overlapped edges at each change of the cover dressing to ensure that they remain in contact. Note that the overlap may cause occlusion of the holes in that area. On larger wound this has no practical implications, but we do not recommend it on smaller wounds.
