New York, NY - PurCotton™ Fabrics To Feature Seals of Cotton
Winner Medical Group (WMDG) today announced licensing agreements with Cotton Incorporated. As a result of these agreements, Winner’s revolutionary PurCotton™ spunlace nonwoven fabrics will feature the familiar Seal of Cotton for 100% cotton nonwovens and two other variations of the Seal for nonwoven cotton blends. The Seals will be used by Winner to enrich its marketing efforts.

“We purposely chose to focus on spunlace nonwoven cotton because its attributes are ideal for a wide range of applications, including medical disposables and consumer goods. More importantly, cotton is simply a more eco-friendly material to work with,” says J.Q. Li, chairman and chief executive officer of WMDG. “Now that so many customers are looking to make eco-friendly purchasing decisions, we knew the time was right to highlight our cotton based PurCotton™ nonwoven fabrics and finished products. Applying the Seals of Cotton to these offerings will achieve that goal.”

All PurCotton™ fabrics are made with cotton grown in the United States using a proprietary spunlace nonwoven process patented by WMDG that significantly lowers the nonwoven cotton manufacturing cost. The fabrics combine the best properties of natural cotton and nonwoven materials. The PurCotton™ line was launched by WDMG in 2006 in order to satisfy market demand for a range of cotton based nonwovens that combine comfort and competitive pricing with a growing eco-consciousness.

“We are delighted to share our nonwovens trademarks with Winner Medical,” comments Janet O’Regan, manager, Supply Chain Initiatives, Cotton Incorporated. “Cotton fiber is gaining popularity as the go-to fiber for nonwovens. Its many attributes make it a natural choice for the sector and our exclusive Seals of Cotton for nonwovens readily have strong recognition value in the market.”

The agreement between the two companies permits WMDG to apply the familiar Seal of Cotton to the packaging and marketing collateral of its 100% cotton products, and to incorporate two nonwovens-specific variations onto packaging and collateral for products containing specific percentage ranges of cotton: the Seal of Cotton ABSORBLEND™ (for products containing at least 60% cotton) and the Seal of Cotton ENHANCED™ (for products containing at least 15% cotton).

J.Q. Li is enthusiastic about the future of cotton nowovens. “Every day, we are seeing new possibilities and are developing new products together with our customers using the PurCotton™ based fabrics. We expect the global sales of PurCotton™ based products to skyrocket within the next few years as more people are exposed to the unlimited benefits and potential of our revolutionary nonwoven cotton fabrics, especially now that we have received licenses to use the globally recognized Seals of Cotton.
